Our Craft Story

Three Decades of Piano Passion

From a small workshop to serving all of Wyoming, our journey has been guided by one principle: every piano deserves to sing its best song.

The Beginning

In 1995, what started as a fascination with the intricate mechanics of piano actions became a lifelong calling. After apprenticing under master technicians and earning credentials from the Piano Technicians Guild, we established Tubbs Piano Tuning And Service with a simple mission: to preserve the beautiful voice of every piano we encounter.

Wyoming's diverse climate presents unique challenges for piano care. From dry winter air to humid summer conditions, we've developed specialized techniques and protocols to ensure your instrument maintains its optimal condition year-round.

Why Wyoming Pianos Need Special Care

Wyoming's climate presents unique challenges for piano owners. The state's low humidity, dramatic temperature swings, and high altitude all affect piano stability and tuning. Our team has developed specialized knowledge and techniques specifically for these conditions.

Climate Considerations:

  • Low Humidity: Causes wood to shrink, affecting tuning stability and potentially cracking soundboards
  • Temperature Extremes: Seasonal changes require more frequent tuning and careful monitoring
  • High Altitude: Lower air pressure affects string tension and acoustic properties
  • Rural Locations: Dust and isolation require preventive maintenance strategies

We provide specific recommendations for each client based on their location, home environment, and piano type, ensuring optimal performance throughout Wyoming's challenging seasons.
